Summer Walks and Evening Talks
Your sweet voice sings on
Summer walks and evening talks
Sonorous laughter
Dancing through each spider web
Like a choreographed waltz.
Your magenta shirt
Like a rose against the world
Dissonant; unique.
Outshining the browns and greens
Adding color to nature.
Shoes softly stepping
Crunching leaves and pine needles
Sunrays shining through
Picking trails and getting lost
Skipping rocks across the creek.
Lying on our backs
Gazing at the stars all night
Marching off raccoons
Your eyes, brighter than the stars
Dazzling points of firelight.
Angry bumble bees
Can keep all of their honey
I’d get stung again
Because spending time with you
Is the sweetest treat of all.
